  • I don't know about the first two amendments, since the "let your friends play with you" sounds like another justification to shoehorn in needless multiplayer

I think it's meant to apply to games that already have MP component in them. If the game is pure-SP, it should certainly be exempt.

Journey would not work with face to face multiplayer, while depending on anonymous, online, multiplayer.

The "Enough is enough" rule, I'm totally 100% behind. NO MORE ESCORT MISSIONS!

...Again - What's wrong with ICO? A game that is 90% escort mission.

NO MORE PLATFORMING IN FIRST-PERSON GAMES (or at least first-person shooters, I suppose)!

What's wrong with the platforming segments in Metroid Prime? Sure, jumping sucks in most first person games, but Metroid Prime does it exceptionally well, to the point that I had less problems getting jumps right in that than I do in most third person 3d games.

(Prior to playing Journey, mind, I would be hard pressed to find a game that had multiplayer that wouldn't work face to face)

I never played ICO, but I've played games with escort missions, and they're just awful, particularly because I hate having to take care of a character who I have no control over who actively does things that get them in trouble. Yeah, there are good examples, but it's just something I hate having to do, because most of the time, there was no effort put into the AI of the characters you're supposed to escort.

And I hate first-person games in general (even Metroid Prime I didn't care for), but there's something wrong about a game where you can't fully grasp the height and distance of a jump in the same way that a third-person 3D game, or a traditional side-scroller can. Most of the time, I end up hopping around wondering if I'll actually land on the platform I want to.

  • let's imagine for a minute that you guys succeed, i'm curious, which genre would you like to focus on the most?

  • That will be more dependant on what they're presented, really. I tend to think they won't be likely to go into the over-saturated areas like the FPS genre, however, since that's often a sound decision when working with indie games.
